The Revard lookout

Situated at an altitude of 1,562 metres, at the western end of the Bauges massif, the Revard belvedere and its 3 footbridges offer a majestic panorama of Lac du Bourget, Aix-les-Bains, Chambéry and the Dent du Chat.

The footbridges that allow you to enjoy the view have become a must for all visitors passing through.

Friendly advice

To make the most of this belvedere and its breathtaking views, set your alarm and enjoy the magical light of the early morning!

Along with La Féclaz and Saint François de Sales, Le Revard is one of the 3 gateways to the Savoie Grand Revard Nordic ski area, one of the largest Nordic plateaux in Europe, just 30 minutes from Chambéry and 20 minutes from Aix-les-Bains. Here, nature reigns supreme: fir forests, snow-covered valleys, mountain pastures in bloom in summer… everything invites contemplation and adventure.

A site steeped in history and innovation

1Opening of the cog railway
  • Le Revard has left its mark on the history of tourism in Savoie. By the end of the 19th century, it had become a mecca for summer and winter tourism. The opening of the cog railway in 1892 - the first line of its kind in the mountains - revolutionised access to the resort. Spa guests and visitors from Aix-les-Bains and all over Europe discovered the joys of the mountains in a spectacular setting.
2Ski jumping hills
  • In winter, the slopes of Le Revard were first skied in 1906, but the winter resort was officially launched in 1909, making it one of the very first winter sports resorts in France!
Le Revard was a pioneering resort: ski jumps were installed as early as 1908, and prestigious Nordic competitions punctuated the winters of the early 20th century.

3Cable car
  • In 1935, the cog railway was unable to cope with the influx of visitors, and was replaced by a cable car linking the valley to the Revard. At the time, this cable car was one of the most powerful in the world! It marked a new stage in the development of tourism in the resort. With cabins for 40 people, it transported up to 300 people an hour and operated until 1969, before the road and cars took over.

Le Revard, the pearl of the Savoie Grand Revard region

Le Revard, at the Crolles car park, is one of the 3 gateways to the Savoie Grand Revard Nordic ski area. With 150 km of cross-country ski runs, the area is considered to be one of the best in France. Snow sports enthusiasts will also find a downhill ski area with a dozen runs perfect for both beginners and advanced skiers.

Le Revard is also the starting point forsignposted snowshoeing itineraries and dog-sled rides.

In summer, the Revard is transformed into a huge playground for hikers, cyclists and mountain bikers.

An accessible mountain

Situated at the crossroads of the Savoyard valleys, Le Revard is easily accessible all year round. From Chambéry or Aix-les-Bains, the road winds through forests and belvederes, offering unforgettable panoramic views.
