Fun hikes: when trails tell stories
You don’t need a sherpa or an XXL rucksack to set off on the Tannes et Glacières trail. You’re venturing into the bowels of the Margériaz – well, almost. You’ll brush up against the chasms, admire the lapiaz and come out a grown-up… and slightly more knowledgeable about geology. As for the botanical trail, it’s all about plant refinement: wild orchids, wild grasses and a guaranteed Zen atmosphere.
A little further on, in the heart of the Bauges, just a stone’s throw from Aillons-Margériaz, you’ll find the sentier des Maîtres du Mont Déserté. A few signs, a story about a landslide and some wooden sculptures are enough to spark the imagination. It’s instructive, it’s pretty, and nobody asks you for your time. A little further on,
Here, even the walks are light on their feet
Some walks make you sweat before you’ve even started. Not so here. The comfortable walks take place on peaceful paths where you move forward without forcing yourself, but never without pleasure. You move along as you please, chatting, photographing and breathing. Even the most reluctant of Sunday walkers end up asking for more. It’s the ideal way to admire nature without ending up with bruised calves.
Four seasons, zero constraints, a thousand smiles
Whether you’re looking for a beginner’s course, a breath of fresh air or simply a chance to chat as you walk, these trails can be adapted to suit all tastes. As soon as the sun comes out, they reveal their bucolic and welcoming character. And to extend the pleasure, why not stop off at the Chartreuse d’Aillon or enjoy a slice of mature Margériaz cheese? After all, a successful hike is also a well-deserved reward.
