5 festivals to awaken your senses in summer

In Chambéry Montagnes, summer is experienced to the full, between historic lanes and mountain paths.
It’s not just about seeing or listening, but about feeling, vibrating, tasting, touching and breathing. In this region, where the city meets the mountains, where culture meets the mountains, a unique alchemy takes place. From the churches of the Bauges massif to the bustling squares of Chambéry, each festival becomes a living bridge between nature and heritage, between valley and peak.

Here, artistic creation is everywhere: in the stones of the castle, in the heart of the forest, in public squares or in mountain churches. A veritable infusion of the senses, blending the gentleness of the landscape with the effervescence of culture. Ready to embark on a unique sensory adventure? Here are five festivals, five gateways to the very essence of Chambéry Montagnes.

Hearing - When music marries the mountains Music and Nature Festival in Bauges

The first sense we awaken is our sense of hearing. And what better way to do that than with the Festival Musique et Nature en Bauges? This exceptional event combines classical music with the evocative power of the churches of the Bauges massif. These buildings, sober and steeped in history, offer outstanding natural acoustics.

Each concert becomes an encounter. A meeting of place, time and sound. The violin soaring towards the vault. The choir melting into the murmur of the mountain. The emotion that bursts forth without warning. It’s not just music, it’s a sacred dialogue between man, art and nature.

Sight - When the gaze becomes poetry Unguarded Horizons

The view is undoubtedly our first link with an area. But at Chambéry Montagnes, it’s not just about contemplating. It invites you to see differently, to marvel at a detail, a light, a gesture. Horizons Non Gardés is a series of outdoor performances that transform landscapes into living stages.

Contemporary dance on a meadow, theatre on a multi-sports pitch, musical readings in an ancient abbey… each artistic creation is designed to resonate with the place. This festival is an ode to slowness, raw beauty and visual emotion. You’ll come away with a different, more attentive, more sensitive outlook.

Responsible info

And what if the festival could also rhyme with common sense? Here, each festival takes care of its playground: nature, heritage, local people… and visitors! Waste sorting, eco-responsible scenography, local products à la carte, and above all, environmentally-friendly solutions for getting here… and getting around.

🚆 By train to Chambéry, then by bus to the site whenever possible.
🚲 By bike, for the most adventurous (and the best equipped).
🚌 By public transport, for stress-free enjoyment.

Less footprint, more fun. Because a festival is even better when it respects the environment that hosts it. And that’s something Chambéry Montagnes takes very seriously.

Touch - Feel the vibration of heritage Summer festivals in Savoie

Touch is also what you feel in your heart. In Chambéry, in the courtyard of the Château des Ducs de Savoie, the Estivales en Savoie festival brings the city to life. A stage, artists, and the old stones as a sounding board. Heritage becomes alive, almost carnal. The music comes through the walls, the voices fill the space, and the emotions bubble to the surface.

This festival is a concentration of energies. It’s a place where you can discover artists from a wide variety of backgrounds, share a drink under the stars, and experience that rare thrill of a suspended moment. It’s a touch of the soul, an immediate proximity, a sincere celebration. The headliners of this 2025 edition include Feu! Chatterton, the emblematic French rock group, Terrenoire, the Saint-Etienne duo who won the Victoires de la Musique award, and Oxmo Puccino, a key figure in French rap.

The sense of smell - The city through the senses Chambéry, What a Story!

Street theatre can awaken anything, even the sense of smell. With Chambéry, Quelle Histoire, set off on an immersive investigation through the streets of the city. Immerse yourself in the Belle Époque of 1900. History is being played out before your very eyes, but also all around you. The scent of a stewed dish, the smell of a summer market, the coolness of a fountain – it’s all part of the experience.

You walk, you search, you laugh, you wonder. It’s an adventure in which the city becomes both stage and actor. A lively, accessible, intelligent and sensory show. A real city bath, in its most authentic and warmest version.

Taste - A stage for the taste buds A Giant's Appetite

It’s impossible to talk about the senses without mentioning taste, especially in Savoie. With Un Appétit de Géant, the FACIM Foundation celebrates food, local produce and art. This unique show combines giant scenography and local tastings to create an experience that’s as tasty as it is unusual.

Imagine actors performing a gourmet story in the heart of the Bauges, while you sample cheeses, breads and local specialities. Here, the land is alive and vibrant. It’s an ode to passing on knowledge, sharing and true flavours.
