Aillons-Margériaz 1400: a life-size ski area

Just 30 minutes from Chambéry and Annecy, Aillons-Margériaz 1400 welcomes you to the heart of the Massif des Bauges Regional Nature Park, a UNESCO World Geopark.

The area, at an altitude of between 1400 and 1900 metres, offers 36 kilometres of varied slopes, ideal for families, beginners and gentle skiers. The panorama is spectacular, with Mont Blanc and the Belledonne range in the background.

Snow cover is often excellent from Christmas to March, with conditions regularly praised by Météo France. This is a resort on a human scale, where you can enjoy every descent in a relaxed, authentic atmosphere.

At Les Aillons-Margériaz, there are a thousand ways to enjoy the mountains without putting on skis. Here, everyone can choose their own pace, discover things in a different way and be surprised.

With yoursnowshoes on, you can go deep into the forest and make your way through the fresh snow, listening to the silence. It’s an activity that’s accessible to everyone, ideal for reconnecting with nature and giving yourself a real break.

For shared fun: sledging, family tobogganing, dog sledding… Laughter and memories guaranteed. And for the more curious, there’s an original experience: fatbike on snow, an all-terrain bike that lets you explore the countryside in a different way, with a good dose of fun.

And when night falls, another magic happens. The sky opens up, the stars shine… It’s time to marvel. At Aillon-le-Jeune, a brand new “Starry skies” trail invites young and old alike to take a different look at the heavens. A poetic, sensory night-time stroll to discover the constellations and the magic of the cosmos, at your own pace. A moment suspended between nature and imagination.

In the Bauges, the cuisine is simple, generous and rooted in the land. You’ll find the real taste of mountain produce, the passion of craftsmen and women, and the spirit of the mountain table.

The local star? Tome des Bauges, PDO of course. Made at the Val d’Aillon cheese dairy, the smallest in Savoie, it embodies everything we love: quality, tradition and character. Every day, 3,000 litres of raw milk are carefully processed.

And for lovers of heart-warming dishes: the Matouille. A Tome des Bauges cheese rubbed with garlic, drizzled with white wine, melted in the oven in a casserole dish, served with potatoes, cold meats and a salad… A generous, convivial dish that brings people together around the table.
