An unspoilt area,
a refuge
for wildlife
Classified as a Regional Nature Park and recognised as a UNESCO World Geopark, the Massif des Bauges is an immense refuge for wildlife. In these unspoilt landscapes, leaping chamois, discreet mouflons and majestic stags share the land with the northern lynx, ghost of the forests, and the golden eagle, lord of the heights.
Their signs of presence – light footprints in the snow, scratched bark or well-concealed droppings – are all clues to a world that never fully reveals itself.
The art of observation: becoming an invisible guest
- Walk like a shadow: move slowly, silently, so as not to betray your presence,
- Open up your senses: a cry, a rustle of leaves, a flutter of wings are enough to tell a story,
- Binoculars at hand: they offer the privilege of approaching without disturbing,
- Favour dawn and dusk: the magical moments when wildlife comes to life.
