The secret nature door in the Bauges Saint-François-de-Sales

When winter adorns the summits in white,
Saint-François-de-Sales reveals all its discreet charm.
Nestling in the Massif des Bauges Regional Nature Park, this 100% Nordic village
is the gateway to a real-life nature adventure.

Just 40 minutes from Chambéry and Annecy, and an hour from Albertville,
this gentle getaway welcomes you to an unspoilt, soothing atmosphere.
Whether the forests are dusted with snow or still green, the call of the mountains remains the same: take a deep breath of fresh air, with family, friends or the whole tribe.

Nordic Escape
at Saint-François-de-Sales

The main attraction here is the genuine simplicity of the setting. As soon as you park your car, the adventure begins. On the heights, the Saint-François-de-Sales plateau offers a vast playground for all nature-loving fans.

Activities
for all tastes

Walk, slide, breathe
On foot, on snowshoes or on skis, everyone can set their own pace in a peaceful and majestic coniferous forest. In the Savoie Grand Revard Nordic ski area, the cross-country ski trails and snowshoe paths wind gently along, accessible to all levels, from the youngest to the most experienced cross-country skier. Here, nature can be enjoyed without restraint, in a safe and enchanting setting.

Sporting and fun experiences
Whether the snow is plentiful or shy, the possibilities are endless: Nordic skiing, fatbike on snow…
The instructors at the Ecole de Ski Internationale (ESI) provide friendly support for all types of skiers: discovering skating, an introduction to alternating or progressing in Nordic touring… there’s something for everyone to enjoy, in a spirit of good humour and sharing.

An encounter
a natural site

The Creusates peat bog: a discreet jewel to be preserved
The most contemplative visitors will be guided to the Creusates peat bog, a natural site formed 14,000 years ago and a witness to the glacial past of the Bauges. Accessible on snowshoes or on foot, it reveals a precious biodiversity, with typical vegetation and animal tracks.

Sled dogs and Nordic complicity
For a timeless experience, join Orlane and her pack of Siberian and Alaskan Huskies (Nordic Event 74). A first ride in a sleigh or an introduction to driving: the experience is fun, immersive and deeply alive. And if the snow runs out, don’t worry: the wheeled go-karts are there to prove that nature and adaptation go hand in hand.

After the effort,
comfort made in Savoie

Nordicéa,
a warm welcome for adventurers

Before setting off again, or to take a breather between two activities, a stopover at Nordicéa is a must. It’s the real base camp for your Nordic days. Here you’ll find everything you need to get equipped: ski and snowshoe hire, information on routes… but also a simple and sincere welcome, just like the village itself.

Inside, the wood-burning stove crackles, there are games for the children, and grown-ups can enjoy a hot chocolate or a homemade local dish. Takeaway sandwiches, Savoyard dishes of the day, gourmet snacks by the fire: everything is designed to combine well-being and authenticity.

You’ll also find books, board games, magazines, and even some local produce to take home in your suitcases. And if you’re lucky enough to be there in the late afternoon, don’t miss the sunset over the Margériaz: a gentle spectacle.

Gourmet break
at the Chalet de la Plate

On the edge of the piste, the Chalet de la Plate welcomes you on Wednesdays, weekends and during the school holidays. There’s always a home-made soup simmering, a crêpe browning or a coffee ready to warm your hands. Our cuisine is simple, generous and full of flavour, just like the mountains it reflects.

The Bauju spirit to meet you

The strength of Saint-François-de-Sales lies in the men and women who live and work here.
Restaurants, instructors, guides: all are deeply attached to their region and happy to share it.

Their welcome is natural, their passion contagious. Don’t hesitate to ask them your questions: they are the guardians of a living memory, that of the Massif des Bauges, a UNESCO World Geopark. Thanks to them, every outing becomes a discovery, every anecdote a treasure trove.

Affordable breaks
to extend the pleasure

Winter here is accessible to all budgets, without sacrificing the quality of the experience. And as one day is never enough, there are a number of accommodation options available to prolong the magic.

L’École à gîter, the hamlet’s former school converted into cosy gîtes, can accommodate up to 29 people in five modular units. Perfect for families, small groups or large reunions.

Want to get even closer to nature? The Refuge du Creux de Lachat offers you a night away from it all, to the rhythm of the stars and the silence of the peaks. A suspended moment to fully experience the mountains.

A simple and precious winter interlude

At Saint-François-de-Sales, every moment counts. Here, winter is experienced on a grand scale, but always with simplicity. The natural beauty of the mountain range, the wealth of encounters, the diversity of activities and the warm atmosphere create a concentrate of true, rejuvenating experiences.

Whether you’ve come to work off your energy, find yourself or simply take a breather, the mountains are waiting to welcome you. Authentic, accessible, inspiring: Saint-François-de-Sales promises you a winter to match.
