Live an adventure with your 4-legged friend

Why not take advantage of your stay in Savoie Grand Revard to experience a holiday with your dog? Come and take a breath of fresh air, break away from the intensity of everyday life, and let the magic happen… Between walks on the ridges, playing in the snow and cocooning, you’ll create your own memories of shared adventures. For two, three or more, Savoie Grand Revard is the ideal destination for friendly tribes or families looking for authenticity and activities that are accessible to all – humans and canines included.

Winter walks to share with your dog

The region is packed with trails that are ideal for winter walks with your dog. Some of the most highly recommended are

  • The pedestrian/snowshoe trails on the southern plateau of La Féclaz, which run alongside the cross-country ski trails.
  • The Glaise multi-activity trail, ideal for a gentle outing along the slopes.
  • The Pertuiset and Saint-François-de-Sales areas, which are quieter and ideal for a safe stroll.

“Your dog may not get a ski pass, but he’s entitled to his snow too!”

And above all: take the time. Letting your dog plunge into the snow, running through the woods, sniffing out a thousand new smells… that’s what a successful holiday is all about. Important: dogs are not allowed on downhill or cross-country ski runs. However, a number of itineraries outside the ski areas are accessible. All you have to do is keep your dog on a lead (or lanyard) and follow a few common-sense rules to make the most of your holiday.

La Grande Odyssée Royal Canin a highlight for dog lovers

This winter, the event that brings together lovers of nature, sport and… dogs returns to Savoie Grand Revard: La Grande Odyssée Royal Canin. Considered to be the most demanding sled dog race in Europe, it traverses the majestic landscapes of the French Alps in an atmosphere that is as festive as it is moving.

But here, there’s no compromise on animal welfare. The real stars of La Grande Odyssée Royal Canin are the dogs. Genuine four-legged athletes, pampered with ultra-precise food rations, constant veterinary monitoring and professional supervision. The mushers themselves are assessed as much on their performance as on the care they give their pack. At Chambéry Montagnes, the stage takes place on the Savoie Grand Revard site, a forested area nicknamed “Little Canada”, particularly well-suited to the event. The atmosphere is magical, with silent forests and vast expanses of white. Come and cheer on the packs, feel the powerful bond between the musher and his dogs, and experience an extraordinary adventure.

Good news dogs welcome local shuttles!

  • Inter-site shuttle La Féclaz / Le Revard: dogs allowed.
  • Line 40 Chambéry: small dogs accepted, provided they are in a basket.
  • Line S11 Aix-les-Bains: basket compulsory for free travel, otherwise reduced fare for under-26s.

Practical tip: check the conditions for your line in advance, and bring a blanket or bag for your dog’s comfort.

Respecting nature a region to share

The mountains are beautiful… and fragile. Certain areas, such as the nature reserve, are off-limits to dogs, even on a lead. And it’s not by chance: these areas are home to sensitive species that it’s important to preserve. A few reminders to help you live together peacefully:

  • Always keep your dog on a lead, especially near the slopes
  • Pick up after your dog (yes, even in the snow)
  • Respect other walkers, skiers and hikers
