Cognin has know a rich industrial past, organised around the "Canal des Usines" drifted from the "Hyères". This canal, today preserved and promoted is still the witness of a thriving activity, base on the utilisation of water as motive force. To give all its sense to this canal save, the town has rehabilitated the "filiature Thomas", who preserve a bucket wheel in "Water Workshop".
Outside, a "water fountain" reproduce in miniature the "Canal des Usines" which was going through the village.
A the ground floor of the building, a mill reconstituted will show you all the secrets of oil making.
