Coming to Chambéry Montagnes
Chambéry – Challes-les-Eaux station, located in the centre of the town, offers direct connections from Paris (3 hours), Lyon (1 hour 15 minutes), Annecy, Grenoble, Geneva and Turin.
It’s a true Alpine crossroads, easily accessible and perfectly connected. Once you’ve arrived, the TER services will open the doors to the region. In season (winter and summer), the Synchro Montagne shuttles take you directly to the resorts.
Road access is easy via the A41 (from Geneva or Annecy) and the A43 (from Lyon or Turin).
From Chambéry, the region’s villages and resorts are within easy driving distance:
- 7 km to Challes-les-Eaux
- 21 km to La Féclaz, 25 km to Aillon-le-Jeune,
- 28 km to Le Revard,
- 36 km to Le Châtelard.
Car-pooling and car-hire solutions are also available.
Chambéry – Savoie Mont Blanc airport is just 15 minutes from the city centre, with direct flights from the UK in winter.
The airports of Lyon-Saint Exupéry (1h), Geneva Cointrin (1h15) and Grenoble Alpes-Isère (1h20) complete the offer for travellers coming from further afield.
Chambéry bus station is served by the Cars Région networks (Savoie, Isère, Ain) and by several national companies such as Flixbus and Blablacar Bus, from many towns in France and Europe.
Getting around Chambéry Montagnes
From the station, everything is easy to do: direct access to the town centre on foot, Synchro city buses, seasonal shuttles to the resorts, car hire, taxis, car parks and car sharing all within easy reach.
Chambéry Montagnes is naturally multimodal. Here, you can combine train, bus, car or bike for a smoother, smoother… and often faster, stay.
The Synchro Bus network serves the communes of Chambéry Montagnes and provides easy access to the city centre. It offers :
- 5 high-frequency Chrono lines (7 to 15 minutes from 7am to 7pm),
- 5 complementary lines (every 30 minutes to 1 hour),
- 11 local lines on weekdays and during school holidays.
During off-peak hours, some routes are replaced by Transport on Demand (TAD ) services, which are available by reservation.
Synchro Montagne provides a link between the Chambéry bus station(Jardin du Verney) and the resorts of La Féclaz and Aillons-Margériaz.

These routes do not run on Sundays.
With the Flexi Synchro Bus service, you can book a shuttle to travel freely in the heart of the Bauges, from Monday to Saturday, between 6am and 7.30pm.

From Chambéry, the Belle Via winds its quiet ribbon between lakes, vineyards and mountains. Accessible and rejuvenating, it invites you to get some fresh air for a break or a journey through the countryside.
Bourget-du-Lac: 11 km from Chambéry
Aix-les-Bains: 17 km from Chambéry
The route runs alongside the River Leysse as far as Lac du Bourget, then follows the peaceful shores of the lake as far as Aix-les-Bains. The panorama is splendid, with the Épine range, the last foothills of the Jura, as a backdrop. From the Grand Port in Aix-les-Bains, you can continue your adventure by bike boat across the lake to Chanaz, then join the ViaRhôna.
Lac de Saint-André: 11 km from Chambéry
The route winds its way through vineyards and orchards to Lac de Saint-André, at the foot of the Chartreuse massif. This gentle itinerary can be extended to Grenoble, then Valence, or continued towards Cœur de Savoie to set off on the Tour des Bauges.

Grand Chambéry has set up a practical and accessible system of spontaneous and organised car-sharing to limit the use of private cars while making it easier for you to get to the area’s resorts and villages.
The Synchro Covoiturage service serves several key areas:

La Thuile
The La Trousse park-and-ride site provides easy access to La Féclaz and the lake at La Thuile, and between Saint-Jeoire-Prieuré and Challes-les-Eaux.
A system based on flexibility and proximity:
Passengers go to a Synchro Covoiturage stop and press a button to indicate their presence.
The driver, on seeing the request, can stop to offer a ride.
A carpooler’s card is used for identification purposes, but is not compulsory.
The terms and conditions (drop-off point, destination) are defined directly between the passenger and the driver.
