In the heart of Chambéry, the “Chambéry Montagnes” visitor centre in Place du Palais de Justice is committed to making tourism accessible to everyone. Awarded the “Tourisme & Handicap” label for all four types of disability (motor, visual, hearing and mental), it guarantees a clear, reliable and caring welcome, so that information is accessible to all, without exception.

The aim of this label is to provide reliable, descriptive and objective information on the accessibility of tourist sites and facilities, taking into account all types of disability, and to develop a tourist offer that is adapted and integrated into the general offer.
The “Tourisme & Handicap” label is a response to the demands of people with disabilities who want to be able to choose their holidays and leisure activities in complete freedom. The label provides a guarantee of an effective welcome that is adapted to the essential needs of disabled people. The documents used for the assessment prior to awarding the label were drawn up in consultation with associations of tourism service providers and representatives of disabled people.
With this in mind, Grand Chambéry Alpes Tourisme has produced a practical tourist guide to the town for people with special needs.
Would you like to (re)discover Chambéry’s historic centre in a different way? Follow the little golden elephants on the ground. This route, which has been awarded the “Promenade Confort” label, reveals the treasures of the old town: traboules, passageways, trompe-l’œil, ironwork… A gentle stroll full of surprises, accessible to accompanied people with reduced mobility.
