When you book accommodation in our area, a small contribution is added to the price of your stay: this is the tourist tax. It is collected by your accommodation provider on behalf of Grand Chambéry and the Savoie department.

This tax varies according to the type of accommodation and the number of people staying.

What is it for?

It is used to actively support the reception of visitors and the development of tourism in our beautiful destination, Chambéry Montagnes. In short, it’s a small gesture that has a big impact on the quality of your experience here.

Rates for tourist tax

These rates are per person per night. They include the département’s additional tax.

Hotels, Tourist Residences, Furnished Accommodation and Holiday Villages
The applicable rate per person per night is 5% of the cost per person per night, up to a maximum of €4.40.
The cost of the night corresponds to the price of the accommodation excluding charges.

Exemptions

In accordance with article L. 2333-31 of the CGCT, the following are exempt from the tax:

minors ;
holders of a seasonal employment contract employed in the intermunicipality;
persons benefiting from emergency accommodation or temporary rehousing.

These tourist tax rates apply to the municipalities of Aillon-le-Jeune, Aillon-le-Vieux, Arith, Barberaz, Barby, Bassens, Bellecombe-en-Bauges, Challes-les-Eaux, Chambéry, Cognin, Curienne, Doucy-en-Bauges, École, Jacob-Bellecombette, Jarsy, La Compôte, La Motte-en-Bauges, La Motte-Servolex, La Ravoire, La Thuile, Le Châtelard, Le Noyer, Les Déserts, Lescheraines, Montagnole, Puygros, Saint-Alban-Leysse, Saint-Baldoph, Saint-Cassin, Saint-François-de-Sales, Saint-Jean-d’Arvey, Saint-Jeoire-Prieuré, Saint-Sulpice, Sainte-Reine, Sonnaz, Thoiry, Vérel-Pragondran and Vimines.
