From Place à Baban, the start of the discovery trail, the path climbs up through the forest. Below you, the Margériaz plateau is limestone. Water has dissolved and carved out numerous galleries.
Along the way, enter the caves and feel the dampness of the stone. Don't go too deep, as this is the fairies' refuge.
Stretch your hand over the chasms and feel the cold of the snow preserved in their depths.
If you want to extend the hike, take the path that climbs up through the rocks to reach the ridge. At the top, you'll have a superb view of the Belledonne chain, the Granier...
The path back down winds through the mountain pastures, where lapiaz outcrops have been carved out by water run-off. Occasionally, goats can be seen strolling skilfully over the sharp rocks.
On the way back to the heart of the forest, the Margériaz still has a few geological curiosities in store, so keep your eyes peeled!
