Walking & hiking Chambéry Mountains

Hiking here isn’t just a pastime… it’s an immersion.
From gentle family walks to high altitude traverses, each trail reveals a fragment of our nature, a glimpse of our culture. And there’s always that rare feeling of walking in the heart of a living territory.
The Chartreuse Massif, the Bauges, the valleys, the mountain pastures, the forests… at every turn, the magic happens.

 The mountains for everyone, life-size

To each his own summit!

Here, there’s no need to aim for Everest to enjoy the mountains. At Chambéry Montagnes, there are trails to suit all styles and abilities. Pushchairs, trainers, sticks or a big rucksack: everyone can go at their own pace, with no pressure (except that of the altitude).

Looking for a leisurely family outing? We can do that.
Or a steep climb to challenge yourself? We’ve got that too.

Either way, you’ll be treated to fresh air, panoramic views and tingling legs.
In short, whether you’re a light hiker or a Nepalese Sherpa, everyone is welcome on the trails here.
And that’s something you don’t get everywhere.

Top 3 quiet walks

Here are 3 easy walks to enjoy together, between magical forests, tranquil lakes and panoramic viewpoints. Gentle, accessible trails full of surprises, to introduce young and old to the pleasures of hiking, without forcing them. Get your water bottles ready and open your eyes wide!

Hiking to the summit: our 3 favourites

For experienced walkers in search of breathtaking views, here are our favourites: aerial ridges, high altitude lakes and XXL panoramas.
The effort is well rewarded, the paths are sometimes steep, and there’s the unique sensation of being alone in the world… or almost.

Roaming What if you were away for several days?

A feeling of absolute freedom.
Disconnect, refocus, marvel at the sunrise over a ridge.
Here, hiking over several days is an adventure on a human scale, in a welcoming, unspoilt region.

Huts and bivouacs

Sleep outdoors, yes… but not just any old way!

Bivouacs are tolerated in certain natural areas, subject to certain conditions.

For greater comfort, consider using a refuge, whether guarded or not.
They offer a warm welcome and often… a good Savoyard meal.

Guided walks The enhanced experience!

Would you like to walk in complete safety, learn to read the mountains, discover the fauna, flora and geology…?

Call on the services of a mountain leader (AMM).

Qualified professionals, they share much more than just a route: their passion, their intimate knowledge of the area, and often… their infectious good humour.

Green news

A (bus) ticket to altitude

What if your next hike started… at the bus stop?
Thanks to the Synchro Montagne network, many hiking routes are accessible by public transport from Chambéry.

It’s simple, economical and environmentally friendly.
And best of all, you can get back down to the valley without having to get back behind the wheel! A great way to combine hiking and commitment.

Accessible trails… with a bit of height

In summer, the Orionde chairlift at Savoie Grand Revard (La Féclaz) takes you to an altitude of 1,500 m, without breaking a sweat.

Up there, it’s time to get away from it all: panoramic trails, family walks, picnics on the ridges…

A fun ascent, a descent on foot, and the feeling of having touched the sky without breaking a sweat!
