Step by step to the rhythm of the Bauges
Here, every step brings you a little closer to what’s essential. When you choose to go hiking, you explore the Massif des Bauges in its purest expression: deep forests, luminous mountain pastures, suspended villages, and that heady feeling of freedom. From the Tour des Bauges to the lake-to-lake Traversée des Bauges, each itinerary is an invitation to slow down, contemplate and breathe.
Tours from 2 to 6 days for all hikers
Looking for your first experience? Opt for a 2 or 3-day hike around the Margériaz, the Leysse plateau or as far as the Coutarse refuge, perfect for a weekend getaway.
Hardened walkers will prefer the longer routes: 80km to do the Tour des Bauges or almost 100km between Lac du Bourget and Lac d’Annecy – an exceptional itinerary linking two of Savoie’s jewels.
Partner refuges and gîtes line your route, offering comfort, a warm welcome and breathtaking scenery. Some even offer home-cooked meals based on local produce, perfect for recharging your batteries after a great stage.
The Bauju spirit: nature, sharing and authenticity
Hiking here means total immersion in an unspoilt area that has been designated a Regional Nature Park and a UNESCO Geopark. It’s also about meeting the local people, tasting the cheeses, listening to the wind on the ridges and being surprised at every turn.
Hiking in the Bauges is an adventure on a human scale, a break from the hustle and bustle, a Savoy elixir to be savoured step by step.
