Walking with your dog with complete peace of mind

Does your four-legged friend love nature? The Bauges is his ideal playground… and yours too! Together, take a breath of fresh air in a wild setting where adventure goes hand in hand with respect.

Why choose Chambéry Montagnes with your dog?

Here, the mountains are generous. The trails wind through forests and mountain pastures. You can breathe in the air while your dog frolics… And what if this was true freedom?

But be warned: the Massif des Bauges is a Regional Nature Park. Its flora and fauna are precious. To preserve this jewel box, a few rules are essential.

The golden rules for hiking with your dog

1 - Keep your dog on a lead, for :

  • the tranquillity of wildlife
  • respect for other hikers, mountain bikers and trail runners…
  • the safety of your faithful companion! In the Bauges, there are many chasms and cliffs. Unfortunately, some dogs fall, sometimes to their deaths.

2 - Dogs are not allowed in the perimeter the Bauges National Hunting and Wildlife Reserve

You can visit the Parc Naturel Régional du Massif des Bauges website to find out about the various regulations in force (regularly updated with decrees issued during the year: check before you leave).

3It is not advisable to take your dog hiking in mountain pastures where patous sheep are present.
  • You can find out more about patous and pastoralism on the pasto-kesako.fr website, including a map showing the presence of patous. If you come across a herd, go as far as possible around it and keep your distance.
4Leave no trace
  • Pick up its droppings and take your rubbish with you.
