Experience Chambéry as a guest of the Dukes of Savoy

Stop just visiting. Start living. Savoie is about more than just façades and dates. It ’s something you feel, something you share.

At Chambéry Montagnes, you’re not just a spectator. You step inside. You take your place. You become part of the story.

For a few days, your role changes. You become the guest.

What if you stopped dreaming of a life of luxury? Sleeping in a castle

At Château de Candie, you feel as though you’ve stepped into a fairy tale. A tree-lined driveway, an elegant building nestled amongst the vineyards… Candie has something of the fairy-tale houses we used to imagine as children. A large estate, silence, space…You almost expect to see a character appear from around a corner in the garden.

At Les Comtes de Challes, the atmosphere changes. It’s more intimate, more enveloping. A bit like those family homes where you feel at ease from the very first moment. The vaulted ceilings, the stonework, the cellar… everything invites you to slow down. You speak more softly, take your time, savour the moment more fully. It’s like a place you’ve never been to before… and yet it feels familiar.

Two places, two atmospheres. But the same feeling: not being a customer… but a guest.

You can savour history at every moment.

Beneath the stones of the Château des Comtes de Challes, time does not simply pass; it matures. Here, wine is not merely a pleasure; it is a legacy.

Every vat, every cask, every gesture carries on a history far older than you. We guide you, we tell you the story… then comes the moment to taste.

And everything falls into place. The aromas, the terroirs, the centuries, almost.

You are not merely tasting a wine. You are savouring the memory of this place. A rare moment, somewhere between the cellar, history… and well-kept secrets.

The Savoy Cake

The Savoy cake was first created in Chambéry in 1358. Towelcome Charles IV of Luxembourg, his suzerain, Amédée VI, Count of Savoy, set about creating a new dessert, asking his pastry chef for a cake as light as a feather.

A tradition that is still passed down today

In Rue Basse du Château, in the heart of Chambéry’s historic centre, the shops and workshops reveal another side to Savoie.

Here, artisans and designers carry on the skills they have learnt, refined and passed down through the generations. At the Caractères gallery, you step into a vibrant space where every object has a story.

Ceramics, illustration, contemporary art… everything is made on site or thoughtfully designed. You can observe, engage in conversation and gain an understanding. And above all, you can find meaning in what you choose.

Step into history of the Dukes of Savoy

In the heart of Chambéry, the Castle of the Dukes of Savoy is not a place you can explore on your own. Here, every visit is led by a guide. And that’s the whole point.

For behind the walls, the courtyards and the Sainte-Chapelle, nothing is insignificant. Every space has a purpose, every detail has a story. As you make your way through the castle, the guide opens doors for you…and provides insights.

You’ll come to understand how the Dukes lived, how power was exercised, and how this place shaped Savoy. Little by little, the castle comes to life. You’re no longer just looking. You understand, you imagine, you feel.
