The men’s Tour de France set off from Chambéry for a spectacular stage through the Bauges and Chartreuse mountain ranges, before finishing in Voiron.

An exceptional route, a huge crowd turn out… and confirmation that Chambéry Montagnes is, more than ever, a true cycling region.

A year after the women... The men took over

In 2025, thousands of you were on the edge of your seats as the Tour de France Femmes passed through, cheering on the champions in the streets of Chambéry, along the Alpine hairpin bends, against a spectacular backdrop.

In 2026, we did it all again! This time, it was the men’s peloton that set off from Chambéry, ready to tackle the Savoyard hills. The stage passed through two regional nature parks where the landscapes showcase the full spectrum of Savoy: mountain pastures, forests, cliffs and authentic villages. A memorable stage, etched in everyone’s memories.

Chambéry

The peloton set off from the heart of Chambéry. With its colourful façades, bustling squares and prestigious heritage, the town marked the start of the stage. The atmosphere was electric: spectators had gathered, the riders were introduced, and then the race set off towards the first hills.

Even before the riders arrive,there’s a real buzz in the start village. Entertainment, stalls, a lively atmosphere… everything’s in place to immerse you in the world of the Tour.

Heart of the Bauges

The route wound its way through the heart of the Bauges massif, an unspoilt area where wild rivers, forests and charming villages punctuated the stage. Water, the scenery and local craftsmanship accompanied the peloton, offering a true immersion in the authenticity of Savoie.

Margériaz Aillons

The route gained altitudearound Aillons and Margériaz. The terrain became more rugged, with mountain passes, alpine pastures and the rock formations typical of the massif. A more mountainous area, with sweeping views and a range of outdoor activities available all around.

The Chartreuse Foothills

The route left the Bauges, passed through Chambéry once more before heading towards the foothills of the Chartreuse. The terrain gradually became more rugged, alternating between wooded slopes and cliffs, with a more rocky feel.
A finale that took the peloton towards Voiron, amidst steep slopes and unspoilt countryside.
