From 1906 to 1910, a 108-meter diameter roundhouse capable of holding 72 locomotives was built. This facility was electrified relatively early, as early as 1928. In 1944, the roundhouse was damaged during the bombing of the railway infrastructure.
In the 1980s, it narrowly escaped destruction. Protected as a historic monument in 1984 and completely restored by the SNCF, it is the jewel of Chambéry's industrial heritage.
In addition to the preservation and restoration of the site, its continued operation gives it a unique character. Accompanied by a tour guide, come discover this site and the electrical equipment restored by the Association for the Preservation of Savoyard Railway Heritage.
In partnership with the SNCF.
