In 1890, an 18-year-old knife-maker from Savoy developed a pocket knife in his family’s workshop. Today, 280 million units later, the knife is on display at MoMA in New York, and is still manufactured in Chambéry.
The number on the blade indicates the size: 12 sizes were introduced in 1897, including No. 8, which has remained the best-seller for over a century.
