Description
This cave is one of the entrances to a vast underground network that feeds the Pissieu waterfall in the municipality of Le Châtelard. It was once more active and covered by a much thicker layer of limestone.
From the outside, you can see the entrance to the cave, known as the “porte cochère”, which is accessible via a gentle slope. The passage then runs underground before passing directly above the “puit de la Tanne du Névé”, a chasm that is also clearly visible from the outside (surrounded by safety barriers).
There are numerous karst formations within this cave. In winter, ice forms here and remains until quite late in the season.
To get the most out of the site, explore it underground! Take advantage of the guidance provided by a caving guide to explore in complete safety and benefit from their knowledge and anecdotes, or set off independently on the caving trail, which has been set up inside the cave.
