Forest and forest management: Explore the secrets of the mountain forest, its inhabitants and the practices put in place to manage it sustainably.
Scientific research: Discover how scientists observe, study and protect flora and fauna on a daily basis.
The Bauges National Hunting and Wildlife Reserve stretches across the eastern part of the massif, encompassing its highest peaks, including Arcalod. Created to protect the chamois, it is now a protected area dedicated to the study of mountain fauna, where human activities are still possible, albeit under controlled conditions. This remarkable territory is home to a rich biodiversity of plants and animals, and serves as a privileged site for the scientific monitoring of large herbivores. It is managed jointly by the Office National des Forêts, the Office Français de la Biodiversité and the Parc Naturel Régional du Massif des Bauges.
