A fortified castle, princely palace, and emblem of power, the Château des Ducs de Savoie, now the seat of the Prefecture and the Department, comprises a remarkable collection of buildings dating from the 13th century to the present day.
Learn the story of the Counts and Dukes of Savoy and follow your guide through areas little known to the general public: the main courtyard, the treasury tower, the lower rooms... not forgetting the Sainte Chapelle, built in the 15th century during the reign of the first Duke of Savoy, Amadeus VIII, and which housed the Holy Shroud. Pause to admire its magnificent stained-glass windows dating from the Renaissance period and its vaults adorned with astonishing trompe-l'oeil paintings from the 19th century.
