Tourism Observatory Grand Chambéry Alpes Tourisme

In order to provide the best possible support for the region’s tourism development, the Grand Chambéry Alpes Tourisme tourism observatory collects, compiles, analyses and presents data and indicators that provide an overview of tourism activity.

The area under study is Grand Chambéry (38 municipalities), divided into specific zones.
This observatory is intended for socio-professionals, project leaders, elected representatives and partners of Grand Chambéry Alpes Tourisme.

The objectives of this tourism observatory are:

  • To gain a more detailed understanding of tourist numbers.
  • To analyse the performance of tourism provision.
  • To provide a detailed analysis by geographical area.
  • To optimise the management of the destination’s marketing strategy.
  • To inform industry stakeholders about changes in occupancy rates and prices depending on the season.
  • To launch campaigns promoting the destination to boost bookings.
  • To assess the destination’s tourism activity in comparison with competing destinations.

The main indicators examined are as follows:

  • Occupancy rate and room occupancy rate.
  • Length of stay.
  • Origin of international and domestic guests.

The tools used for this observatory are:

  • Statistical gateways for commercial accommodation: automated collection of business overnight stays.
  • Surveys of commercial accommodation providers not connected to the gateways.
