Set off on an adventure with your four-legged friend

Why not make the most of your visit to Savoie Grand Revard to enjoy a holiday with your dog?

Come and breathe in some fresh air, take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and let the magic happen… Between walks along the ridges, playing in the snow and cosy moments together, you’ll create your own memories of shared adventures. Whether there are two, three or more of you, Savoie Grand Revard is the perfect destination for groups of friends or families looking for an authentic experience and activities suitable for everyone – humans and dogs alike.

Winter walks to enjoy with your dog

The area is full of trails that are ideal for winter walks with your dog. Among the most highly recommended are:

“Your dog might not have a ski pass, but he’s entitled to some snow too!”

And above all: take your time. Let your dog roll about in the snow, run through the woods, sniff out a thousand new scents… that, too, is what makes for a great holiday.

Important: dogs are not allowed on downhill or cross-country ski runs. However, there are plenty of routes available outside the ski areas. Simply keep your dog on a lead (or long lead) and follow a few common-sense rules to make the most of your time out.

La Grande Odyssée Royal Canin a highlight for dog lovers

This winter, the event that brings together lovers of nature, sport and… dogs returns to Savoie Grand Revard: the Royal Canin Grande Odyssée. Regarded as Europe’s most gruelling dog sled race, it winds its way through the majestic landscapes of the French Alps in an atmosphere that is as festive as it is moving.

But here, there are no compromises when it comes to animal welfare. The real stars of La Grande Odyssée Royal Canin are, without a doubt, the dogs. They are true four-legged athletes, pampered with meticulously tailored diets, constant veterinary care and professional supervision. The mushers themselves are judged as much on their performance as on the care they provide for their pack.

In Chambéry Montagnes, the stage takes place at the Savoie Grand Revard site, a forested area nicknamed ‘Little Canada’, which is particularly well-suited to the event. Set amongst silent forests and vast white expanses, the atmosphere there is magical. Come and cheer on the teams, experience the power of the bond between the musher and their dogs, and enjoy an extraordinary adventure.

Good news Dogs are allowed on local shuttle buses!

  • La Féclaz / Le Revard shuttle bus: dogs allowed.
  • Route 40 Chambéry: small dogs permitted, provided they are in a carrier.
  • Line S11 to Aix-les-Bains: a carrier is compulsory for free travel; otherwise, the ‘under-26’ reduced fare applies.

Practical tip: check the conditions for your specific route in advance, and bring a blanket or bag for your pet’s comfort.

Respecting nature a territory to share

The mountains are beautiful… and fragile. Certain areas, such as nature reserves, are off-limits to dogs, even when kept on a lead. And this is no coincidence: these areas are home to vulnerable species that it is important to protect.

A few reminders for peaceful coexistence:

  • Always keep your dog on a lead, especially near the slopes
  • Pick up your dog’s faeces (yes, even in the snow)
  • Be considerate of other walkers, skiers and hikers
