A podcast that’s 100 per cent Chambéry!
From recording to mixing, from original melodies to the voices that bring it to life, everything in Chambéry’Cimes is conceived and brought to life by local talent. The aim is simple: to showcase Chambéry through the eyes of those who live there every day, with their own sensibilities, perspectives and passion.
This podcast, produced by Chambéry Montagnes, is the result of a collaborative effort:

In each episode, Chambéry tells its story in a different way: blending history and personal anecdotes, heritage and emotion, in a soundscape that echoes the spirit of the region.

Some encounters are game-changers and pave the way for wonderful projects. ‘Chambéry’Cimes’ owes a great deal to one such encounter: that with Kamel Bouziane, president of the Art AbordSavoie association.
Passionate about sound and image, Kamel captures those everyday moments that carry an extra touch of soul. In 2020, his association produced a film about the Faubourg Montmélian, a true tribute to the residents, artists, craftspeople and shopkeepers who bring this iconic neighbourhood to life.
One thing led to another, and the idea for a podcast took shape. To present Chambéry in a different light: its stories, its mysteries, its intimate revelations. To record the voices of those who love to tell its story and pass it on.
Beyond the technical aspects – sound recording, editing and mixing – Art AbordSavoie shares a common conviction with Chambéry’Cimes and the Tourist Office: to forge connections, reveal the human richness of a region and offer those passionate about Chambéry a new way to discover it.

Music
as a focal point
Originally from Chambéry, SKAL is a versatile artist: pianist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and singer. Equally at ease with composition and improvisation, he has been developing his own projects for several years, bringing to life albums with sensitive and poetic atmospheres.
His works, such as *Les jeux d’enfants*, *La Gravité* and *L’Empathie*, weave a suspended world where words and the piano intertwine to create timeless moments.
Alongside his musical career, SKAL is also the founder of *Les Soirées de l’Instant*, a series of monthly events which, for the past six years in the Rhône-Alpes region, have brought together artists and audiences for unique moments of shared experience.
For Chambéry’Cimes, he presents music imbued with intimacy: ‘Hem’, a Swedish word meaning ‘home’. This melody suggests that, beyond our travels and life’s journeys, there is always a place, a memory or a landscape that brings us back home. For SKAL, that home could well be right here, amongst the lakes and mountains of Chambéry.

Architecture Interpretation Centre
for Architecture
and Heritage (CIAP)
In the heart of the historic centre, the Hôtel de Cordon has been home to Chambéry’s CIAP since 2010. The only private mansion in the city open to the public, it reveals its suite of interconnected rooms, its elegant trompe-l’œil paintings and its 19th-century wallpapers, which offer a refined insight into the lifestyle of Chambéry’s elite.
Open all year round, the CIAP invites visitors to delve into the history and development of the city through a permanent exhibition, complemented by temporary exhibitions dedicated to architecture and heritage. Guided tours, workshops and talks round off the experience.
It is also the meeting point for most of Chambéry’s guided tours (excluding the SNCF Rotonde), making the CIAP a true gateway to the city and its heritage.
The Society
of Friends
of Old Chambéry
Founded on 15 April 1933 by the sculptor Mars-Vallett, the Society of Friends of Old Chambéry has set itself the task of protecting, preserving and promoting everything of historical, artistic and heritage interest in Chambéry and Savoie.
A great admirer of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Mars-Vallett set up the association to save the Vallon des Charmettes, which was then under threat from urban development. Thanks to his efforts, the site was granted listed status, becoming a key part of Chambéry’s heritage. Since then, the Society has continued to work tirelessly to defend and preserve this unique setting.
Even today, the association – made up entirely of volunteers – works on two fronts:
Protecting and promoting the historic neighbourhoods: monitoring urban development projects, liaising with the authorities, participating in selection panels, and undertaking initiatives to enhance the area’s appearance, promote pedestrianisation and boost its appeal to tourists.
Sharing the history of Chambéry: an annual series of around ten talks, publications, exhibitions, outings and trips help people to better understand and appreciate the city and its inhabitants.
A civic commitment that keeps Chambéry’s history alive, whilst linking it to its present and its future.
