Caving in Chambéry Montagnes is the art of exploring the mountain from within. Guided by a qualified guide – compulsory for all excursions, except for the self-guided caving hike on the Tanne du Névé – you’ll set off to discover caves, passages and underground networks located at the heart of the UNESCO Global Geopark – the Massif des Bauges Regional Nature Park.

A unique geological heritage to explore

This designated area is renowned for the richness and diversity of its geological heritage. The caves and caverns you explore tell the story of millions of years of history, shaped by water and time. Equipped with a helmet, overalls and a head torch, you’ll discover spectacular stalactites and stalagmites, underground rivers and astonishing passages.

Caving is available for all levels:

  • Introductory tours: ideal for families, with accessible and educational passages.
  • Adventure tours: for adrenaline seekers, featuring abseiling, narrow passages and underwater sections.
  • Throughout the trip, the guide shares their knowledge of geology, hydrology and cave fauna, whilst ensuring your safety.
