Forget about going back to school! Holidays are all year round

365 days of escape

Here, there’s no need to wait for the holidays to get away from it all. At Chambéry Montagnes, every season opens a new chapter: colourful walks in autumn, winter sports and pristine landscapes in winter, getaways through lakes and forests in spring, and hikes and the cool mountain air in summer. All year round, weekends are filled with adventure and discovery.

Explore the Bauges in depth in Aillons-Margériaz

If you’re looking for thrills and a cool escape, treat yourself to an unforgettable underground adventure: caving. When temperatures rise, it’s the perfect activity to combine exploration with a sense of well-being.

Head to the Tanne du Névé cave for an hour and a half of footbridges, ladders and thrills by the light of your headlamps. For the more daring, extend the adventure with an underground bivouac in the heart of the massif. A magical night, lulled by the echoes of the mountains.

After all that effort, it’s time for a treat: in Lescheraines, Gaël Jacob, alongside Sokola, invites you to discover his artisanal ice creams in unexpected flavours such as ‘Aphrodite’ (passion fruit, pomegranate, ginger, Tasmanian pepper) or the many chocolate varieties.

Continue your gourmet and relaxing getaway at theAuberge d’Aillon et d’Ailleurs: comfortable rooms, a spa and refined cuisine, all at reasonable prices. A true haven in the heart of the Bauges.

Getting up high in Savoie Grand Revard

Fancy recharging your batteries and reconnecting with nature? Head to the area between Le Revard and La Féclaz for an adventure at an altitude of 1,400 metres.

Start with the treetop adventure course, where 12 trails – including a special ‘net’ trail (for children aged 2 and over, no harness required) – await you, ready to let you play at being a treetop adventurer. Slides, suspended huts, giant trampolines: here, freedom takes flight.

Next, treat yourself to a paragliding flight from Le Revard. In a matter of seconds, you’ll be soaring over Lake Bourget, the Croix du Nivolet and the Alps stretching as far as the eye can see. A moment suspended in time, to be experienced at least once.

To prolong the magic, treat yourself to a night at the Gîte des 3 Sapins. This three-star gîte, set in the heart of the countryside, offers a swim spa, a fire pit for evenings under the stars and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Ideal for recharging your batteries in complete simplicity.

Delve into the history of Chambéry

Beneath your feet lies another story. Chambéry was one of the first towns to build an extensive network of air-raid shelters during the Second World War. As there were no cellars in a town centre built on former marshland, the town constructed these shelters to protect its population.

Today, these sites can be explored on guided tours or through immersive podcasts. It’s a moving way to delve back into local history.

And for a more light-hearted exploration, follow the little metal elephants embedded in the pavements. They trace a route through narrow streets, traboules and the suburbs, guiding you from the centre to the iconic fountain. A truly poetic heritage treasure hunt.

A different way to experience the mountains even out of season

The beauty of Chambéry Montagnes lies in its year-round charm. In autumn, the forests of the Bauges massif are ablaze with colour. It’s the perfect opportunity for a leisurely hike or a family mushroom hunt.

The signposted trails are suitable for all abilities and allow you to breathe deeply, far from the stress of the new school term. For heritage enthusiasts, the hamlets of the Bauges also hold some surprises in store: hidden chapels, traditional farmhouses and craft workshops.

Don’t hesitate to meet the locals: cheesemakers, beekeepers or woodcarvers – they’ll be delighted to share their passion and expertise with you.

And to make the most of this immersive experience, take part in a discovery workshop: making Tome des Bauges cheese, an introduction to watercolour painting in the great outdoors, or an autumn photography course… An original way to reconnect with yourself and the local area.

And if time allows, stay a while to relax by one of the many nearby lakes. Lake La Thuile, for example, is the perfect spot to settle down with a good book, go birdwatching or simply enjoy the peace and quiet.
