How to balance cycling and holidays for everyone?

Spring, the most beautiful season for getting together, being active as a group, exploring and savouring the moment.
Chambéry Montagnes We invite you to enjoy a family cycling holiday that reflects our region: simple, bountiful and full of surprises. An active and friendly break, amongst lakes, vineyards and mountain peaks, to create vivid, joyful and unforgettable memories. We’ll guide you along the routes of our cycling playground.

Cycling: a gentle adventure, together

At Chambéry Montagnes, cycling is much more than just a sport. It’s an opportunity for fun, discovery and camaraderie. We cycle at the group’s pace, waiting for one another, cheering each other on and marvelling at the sights together. You don’t need to be a seasoned cyclist: our routes are designed for all abilities, all interests and all ages.

A gentle introduction to the landscapes of Savoie

Start with a gentle warm-up on the Belle Via, this greenway that links towns and villages, vineyards and forests. Largely following the greenway, this easily accessible route allows everyone in the family (even the children!) to cycle together, without any frustration. The route passes by the foot of the Castle of the Dukes of Savoy, in the heart of Chambéry, before setting off to explore the vineyards. Along the way, Lake Saint-André unfolds like a watercolour painting: calm waters, reflections of the mountains, absolute tranquillity.

A picnic, a nap, or a dip to cool your feet? This peaceful spot is the perfect setting for a gourmet break, a moment suspended in time where everyone can simply savour the present moment. The more enthusiastic cyclists can even make their way back to the starting point by cycling through the Chignin vineyards.

For the more experienced: the call of the mountain pass

Cyclists looking for a challenge can tackle the climb up the Col de Plainpalais, a route offering breathtaking views. Even higher up, the climb up the Revard offers climbers a bird’s-eye view of Lake Bourget, the Alps and, on a clear day, as far as Mont Blanc. A truly spectacular reward for all that effort!

Here, cycling becomes a sporting adventure, but always in a spirit of camaraderie and shared enjoyment. It’s not a race: it’s a shared experience, yet another memory to recount over a drink come evening.

Tasting and socialising: the Savoyard refreshment stop

Why not take a break to enjoy a tasting and (re)discover the wines of Savoie? This moment of respite at the Bernard and Christophe Richel estate is also a chance to meet local producers, offering a warm and welcoming experience that blends authenticity and conviviality, in a cellar where the wine tells its story just as much as it is tasted.

Here, you’ll discover the richness of the local grape varieties and the unique character of Savoie wines, nurtured by sunshine, stone and time-honoured expertise. We laugh, we chat, and we raise a glass to friendship, the journey and the moment.

This moment can become the highlight of a day’s journey, with the lake as your starting point and a night’s stay in cosy accommodation upon arrival.

Activities for everyone even without pedals

Because a successful holiday is also about catering to everyone’s preferences, Chambéry Montagnes offers a wide range of non-cycling activities to enjoy both in town and in the mountains. Far from being a destination exclusively for sports enthusiasts, it’s an area suited to all paces, designed with those travelling with you in mind who cycle less – or not at all.

In Challes-les-Eaux, the forest fitness and health trailis ideal for stretching your legs in a different way. Walks through the woodland, orienteering games, fitness trails… everything is designed for the simple pleasure of being outdoors, together. Children run about freely here, whilst adults breathe in the fresh air to their heart’s content.

For those who enjoy contemplation or a passion for history, the centre of Chambéry, with its secret alleyways, lanes and passageways, its bustling squares and mysterious fountains, offers a gentle, urban and invigorating stroll. Designer boutiques, bookshops and art galleries elegantly round off the experience.

The Elixir of Savoy, tribal version

What makes Chambéry Montagnes so unique is its ability to blend nature and culture, sport and relaxation, effort and enjoyment, without ever losing sight of its simplicity. Here, you can breathe, share and reconnect with what really matters. As a group, the experience becomes a rejuvenating break which, like any good magic potion, leaves a lasting impression on everyone’s heart.

So, are you ready to hop on your bike and set off as a group to explore Chambéry Montagnes? Come and sample our springtime elixir. Come and create your most cherished memories together.
