Summer

In summer, it’s time for some gentle exercise: a brisk hike up to Mont Pelat, trail running along airy paths or mountain bike descents through open countryside. For cycling enthusiasts, the surrounding mountain passes are well worth a few drops of ‘time trial potion’! Fancy a challenge? Why not try your hand at vertical trail running or ski touring?

Head for the peaks of the Bauges

In the warmer months, lace up your walking boots to climb up to Mont Pelat or take a leisurely stroll through the mountain pastures. The signposted trails offer routes to suit everyone, from family walks to challenging hikes with a 1,000-metre elevation gain.

The Bauges mountain passes (such as the Col du Frêne) set climbers’ hearts racing, whilst the trails open up to fun and technical mountain bike descents. Nestled amongst forests and pastures, enjoyment is guaranteed with every turn of the pedals.

In winter, Aillons Margériaz is transformed into a winter wonderland: downhill skiing on the Margériaz slopes (Aillons-Margériaz 1400), cross-country skiing through peaceful forests, or snowshoe walks following ‘frosty footprints’ to discover the snow-covered secrets of the Bauges.

At Aillons Margériaz, downhill skiing reigns supreme! The resort offers a varied range of slopes. Beginners, families and experienced skiers will all find something to suit them on slopes tailored to every level.

Bonus: the panoramic view of Mont Blanc makes every ride down from the chairlift unforgettable.

In Aillons Margériaz, winter isn’t just about downhill skiing! Fancy a breath of fresh air? Try cross-country skiing on the groomed trails ofthe Nordic centre. For a truly extraordinary adventure, let yourself be pulled by a team of sled dogs: thrills guaranteed. For families, tobogganing also promises plenty of laughs. And if you’re still up for more, why not give snowshoeing a go? So many ways to enjoy winter, with a difference.

Out in the countryside: Amidst mountain peaks, caves and stars

In Aillons Margériaz, nature is a constant source of wonder. Climb the trees at the treetop adventure park for a thrilling dose of fun high up in the treetops. Explore the mysteries underground on a caving trip into the depths of the Massif des Bauges. And when night falls, head to the Revard Astronomical Observatory or the ‘Infusion de Voie Lactée’ evenings for a cosmic interlude under a clear sky.

In summer, breathe deeply on a nature walk led by passionate guides. And why not savour the tranquillity of the mountain pastures in the early morning? An experience to be enjoyed barefoot in the dew, with a cup of mountain tea in hand.

In Aillons Margériaz, clear nights offer a spectacular sight. Far from light pollution, the sky becomes a vast natural planetarium. Stargazing evenings are organised, sometimes led by enthusiasts who’ll take you on a journey to the Milky Way. Whether with family or friends, get ready for an unforgettable ‘Milky Way experience’.

Aillons Margériaz also offers a glimpse intoSavoyard history. Visit the heart of the village of Aillon-le-Jeune and stroll amongst the old chalets and flower-lined alleyways. Don’t miss the Chartreuse d’Aillon, a former 12th-century abbey that has been transformed into a centre for interpreting local heritage.

With the family, let yourself be guided by fun tours such as “Secrets of Yesteryear” to discover what life was like in the mountains in days gone by. When it comes to local craftsmanship, pop into the farms or artisans’ workshops: cheese, pottery, woodwork… treasures to take home in your suitcases (and to delight your taste buds).

After all that effort, it’s time to unwind. Here, we practise the art of letting go. Settle into a spa, let your ‘zen concoction’ steep and immerse yourself in a cocoon of warmth with a view of the mountains. Hammam, massages, Nordic baths: every break is an invitation to slow down.

Fancy a gourmet treat? The restaurants and alpine inns serve Savoyard specialities such as matouille, to be savoured by the fireside. And for the more adventurous, why not try a yoga class or a meditative walk in the forest? A real “balancing experience”!
