Is the Tanne du Névé caving trail open all year round?

No, it is not open to the public in winter. The permitted period is that specified in an official decree: from spring to autumn.

What do you need to take with you on a caving trip?

All the technical equipment is provided by the guide: helmet, head torch, caving suit, knee pads and elbow pads. You simply need to bring: comfortable, warm clothing, sturdy footwear. Please note: You may have to crawl through narrow passages, so it’s best to wear suitable clothing.

Is this a form of physical activity?

Yes, caving requires a minimum level of mobility and agility to navigate through narrow passages and, at times, to crawl. The guides will tailor the trip to your ability.

Can children take part?

Yes, some tours are suitable for children. The age limit depends on the cave and the level of difficulty. Always check with the guide when booking.

Tanne du Névé Caving Hike

Ready to play at being explorers? The Tanne du Névé caving hike immerses you in a mysterious setting, shaped by water and time. Ideal for a first underground experience with family or friends, this outing combines walking with underground exploration.

After a 30-minute approach walk through unspoilt natural surroundings, you’ll enter the cave for 1½ to 2 hours of underground exploration. With a head torch attached to your helmet, proceed step by step, observe the stalactites and stalagmites, feel the dampness and listen to the murmur of the rock.

There are two options available:

With a qualified guide: to learn and immerse yourself in complete peace of mind.
On your own, provided you’re properly equipped. Please note: independent access is regulated by a local by-law (generally accessible from 1 June to 30 October).
