Mountain flavours amongst peaks and valleys
Welcome to an unspoilt region, designated a regional nature park, where cuisine is prepared with conviction and respect for the local terroir. In Aillons Margériaz or in villages such as Le Châtelard, Lescheraines or École, the restaurateurs of Les Bauges showcase local produce with genuine passion.
Tome des Bauges AOP, homemade crozets, polenta with diots, alpine soup, farmhouse charcuterie or mountain honey… The dishes are generous, rooted in local tradition, and often enhanced with a creative twist. You’ll also discover ‘matouille’, a convivial dish consisting of melted Tome des Bauges, best enjoyed with potatoes in the cosy setting of a chalet or inn.
For dessert: blueberry tart, wild rhubarb compote or crème brûlée with meadowsweet… Simple, authentic cuisine bursting with flavour.
A timeless moment, at the heart of the Bauges
Here, every meal is a sensory experience. You sit down to eat after a hike along the ridges or a stroll through the countryside, cheeks flushed, steps light. Wood, stone and smiles are all part of the setting. Far from the hustle and bustle, you step into a haven of calm and human warmth.
In summer, we dine on the terrace to the sound of bells and the breeze. In winter, you savour slow-cooked dishes in amountain refuge or inn. Whether you’re a curious foodie or a connoisseur of local produce, the Bauges Massif welcomes you as if you were at home. And that, perhaps, is Savoie’s finest elixir.
