Grand Chambéry Alpes Tourisme
A long, lovely trek through one of the most beautiful mountain pastures of the Massif des Bauges. Your arrival at the pass will be rewarded by a breathtaking panoramic view of the Northern Alps and Combe de Savoie.
From the village of Ecole, go towards Jarsy then, as you leave the village, take the little road on the right (before the bridge), which leads to Jarsins (a wooden signpost), then the pasture track (on the left at the junction with Jarsins) that leads to the alpine chalets at Vallon d'Arclusaz. Park at the Arolles carpark (915 m.), as the track is prohibited for traffic beyond that point (sign).
From the Arolles carpark (915 m), take the forest track, which rises in hairpin bends towards the Chalet du Praz. This long track that climbs in hairpin bends crosses a part of the Bauges National Hunting and Wildlife Reserve. It gives you a wonderful view of the surrounding peaks: Mount Trelod, Mount Arcalod and Mount Pécloz. After going through the Bois des Jarses, you will reach Granges at 1,153 meters. As you enter the valley, follow the mountain path to reach the Chalet du Praz, followed by the Chalet des Arbets.
The end of the route rises towards the Col d’Arclusaz located under the Dent d’Arclusaz (wayside cross). The 360° view from the pass over the Bauges mountains and the Isere Valley is well worth the last efforts for the climb.
From 01/12 to 15/04.
