Fun hikes: when the trails tell stories
You don’t need a sherpa or an extra-large rucksack to set off on the Tannes and Glacières trail. You venture into the very heart of Margériaz – well, almost. You skirt the edges of chasms, admire the lapiaz formations, and emerge feeling enriched… and slightly more knowledgeable about geology. As for the botanical trail, it’s all about botanical refinement: wild orchids, wild grasses and a guaranteed sense of calm.
A little further on, in the heart of the Bauges, just a stone’s throw from Aillons Margériaz, you’ll find the Maîtres du Mont Déserté trail. A few information boards, a story about a landslide and some wooden sculptures are enough to spark the imagination. It’s informative, it’s lovely, and no one’s asking you to rush. Here, even the walks are a breeze
Some hikes make you break a sweat before you’ve even started. That’s not the case here. These leisurely walks wind along peaceful paths where you stroll without straining, but never without enjoyment. You go at your own pace, chatting, taking photos, breathing in the fresh air. Even those most resistant to Sunday walks end up coming back for more. An ideal break to admire nature without leaving your calves aching.
Four seasons, no pressure, a thousand smiles
Whether you’re looking to give it a go, get some fresh air or simply have a natter whilst walking, these trails cater to whatever takes your fancy. As soon as the sun peeks out, they reveal their idyllic and welcoming character. And to make the experience last even longer, why not pop into the Chartreuse d’Aillon or tuck into a slice of well-matured Margériaz? After all, a successful hike is also a well-deserved reward.
